The Celebrate Aberdeen Parade
What?
At 11am on Saturday 9th June 2012, Aberdeen’s third sector will once again unite in a spectacular parade supported by an array of street performers, local celebrities and musical entertainment. The spectacular parade is expected to last between 45 - 60 minutes.
Who?
The third sector is made up of voluntary and community organisations, volunteering bodies, charities and social enterprises. The aim of the parade is to involve and showcase these and many of the other community support based organisations based in the City of Aberdeen. This will include:
Why?
A vital part of our community - socially and economically - Aberdeen’s third sector supports thousands of beneficiaries each day. From small social enterprises to large-scale charitable bodies, the tireless work of these third sector champions deserves to be celebrated. The parade will act as a platform from which to further raise public awareness of this important work. We are hoping the 2012 parade will be even bigger and better. Futher details on the parade plans will be published here in due course.
Fundraising
The overall aim of the parade is not to raise money specifically, however we will be carrying out a street collection on the day and any proceeds that are left over from the event after all costs and income have been accounted for will be used for the Aberdeen Impact fund. This was set up following the parade last year and aims to support some of the smaller and less well supported charities and community groups in the local area.
"Celebrate Aberdeen” is a project of ACVO which is the benevolent body on behalf of whom funds are being solicited.
“Celebrate Aberdeen” a project of Scottish Charity SC036845 Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations (ACVO) will receive 100% of net proceeds.
Mackenzie PR is a Commercial Participator with ACVO in this project. Mackenzie PR is not to receive renumeration for its services but will receive repayment of expenses.

You can view all three videos below. We’d like to thank the three organisations for their participation in the short videos and we’d also like to offer our gratitude to STV for their[…]
