The Celebrate Aberdeen parade is free for anyone to come along and watch. The parade will start at 11am on 9th June 2012 and will last for approximately 45 - 60 minutes. It will take place down the whole length of Union Street which will be closed to traffic from approximately 10.50am until 12.00 noon.
The aim of the parade is not to raise money specifically, so there is no charge to watch the parade. Given the event is aimed at celebrating the work of the third sector, we thought we would take the opportunity to try and raise some much needed funds to help support some of the third sector organisations in the local area.
We would greatly appreciate any donation you can spare on the day, and all coins or notes will be hugely welcomed as they are collected by our volunteers and paraders. All funds raised on the day will be combined with any surplus left over from the parade itself after sponsorship income and costs are taken into account and will be used in an ACVO managed fund called Aberdeen Impact. This will be used to support some of the smaller charities and community groups in the local area who can often struggle to make ends meet in comparison to some of the larger and higher profile organisations.
Last year we raised approximately £12,900 which has been put to great use and to the benefit of many local third sector organisations.

Throughout the clips, they talk about some of the benefits that their organisation has taken from 2011′s event and tell us of their excitement of returning to take part again this year. You can view all three videos below. We’d like to thank the three organisations for their participation in the short videos and we’d also like to offer our gratitude to STV for their[…]
